North Yorkshire is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. As an IRO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the voices and needs of children in care are heard and prioritized. You will be responsible for facilitating regular reviews of children's care plans, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and advocating for the best interests of the children you serve.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people in care.
  • Collaborating with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive and effective care strategies.
  • Providing expert advice and support to children and families regarding their rights and entitlements.
  • Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring timely interventions when necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all review meetings and decisions made.

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Current Social Work England registration.
  • Significant experience working with children and families in a social work setting.
  • Strong understanding of child protection legislation and relevant statutory guidance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage with children and young people effectively.
