Worcestershire County Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in the Qualified Social Work field. This pivotal role is essential in ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard and respected in their care planning processes. As an IRO, you will be responsible for chairing statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring that their needs are met and their rights are upheld.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Chairing and facilitating statutory reviews for children and young people in care.
  • Monitoring and evaluating care plans to ensure they meet the best interests of the child.
  • Building strong relationships with children, families, and professionals to foster a collaborative approach.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on statutory regulations and best practices.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of reviews and decisions made.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience working with children and families within a statutory environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children and young people effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
