Caritas Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join North Yorkshire Council's Children's Services team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced practitioner with a strong background in Child Protection, Looked After Children and care planning. As an IRO, you will play a key role in ensuring children's voices are heard, care plans progress appropriately, and positive outcomes are achieved through effective challenge and oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Chair Looked After Children's Reviews and Child Protection Conferences.
  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of care plans.
  • Ensure children's wishes and feelings are central to decision-making.
  • Provide robust challenge where plans are not progressing appropriately.
  • Work closely with professionals and partner agencies to improve outcomes.
  • Contribute to quality assurance and service improvement.

Requirements

  • Social Work England registered Social Worker.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Services.
  • Strong Child Protection and Looked After Children experience.
  • Experience chairing complex multi-agency meetings.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and report-writing skills.
