Shropshire Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Qualified Social Worker to join our Children’s SP - UASC & 16+ Pathways Team. In this pivotal role, you will work with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people, ensuring they receive the support and guidance necessary for their development and integration. You will be responsible for assessing needs, developing care plans, and providing a safe, supportive environment for our young people as they transition to independence.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting comprehensive assessments of the needs of unaccompanied minors and young adults. Developing and implementing individual care plans in collaboration with young people and other professionals. Providing direct support and advocacy to ensure the welfare and best interests of children and young adults are prioritized. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation. Collaborating with external agencies, including health services, education providers, and legal representatives.

The ideal candidate will possess a recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. You should have a solid understanding of child protection legislation and experience working with children and young people, particularly in the context of asylum-seeking and transitioning to independent living. Essential skills include strong communication, empathy, problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
