Join our dedicated Community Team in Walsall as an Occupational Therapist and make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals in our community. In this rewarding role, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, and implement personalized interventions that enhance the quality of life for clients with varying needs. Your expertise will be crucial in promoting independence and well-being among diverse populations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting comprehensive assessments of clients' physical, emotional, and social needs. Developing tailored treatment plans and interventions to support clients in achieving their goals. Providing therapeutic support and guidance to clients and their families. Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care. Monitoring and evaluating client progress and adjusting plans as necessary.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

A recognized degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Proven experience in a community setting, preferably with knowledge of diverse client groups. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively. Empathy, patience, and a commitment to client-centered care.

Caritas Recruitment is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join Oxfordshire Council within Adult Social Care on a locum basis. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by supporting adults to live as independently and safely as possible through a strengths-based, person-centred approach, while delivering value for money for the local authority.
You will work collaboratively across Adult Social Care and partner agencies, undertaking assessments, reviews and professional interventions to promote independence, build resilience and develop long-term support networks for individuals, families and carers.
Key ResponsibilitiesWork within the requirements of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983 and all other relevant legislation, guidance and professional codes of practice.Provide personalised information and advice to individuals, families and carers.Undertake timely, proportionate assessments, reviews and professional interventions.Apply a strengths-based approach, exploring informal support networks, community resources, equipment and adaptations to achieve agreed outcomes.Ensure support plans clearly reflect individuals' needs and outcomes, regardless of eligibility decisions.Identify and arrange services that promote independence, particularly reablement services and equipment.
Equipment, Adaptations and HousingAssess for and provide equipment, including Assistive Technology, to reduce risk and support independence.Assess and provide advice on minor and major adaptations to properties.Assess and advise on moving and handling techniques, including postural management support and appropriate equipment.Work closely with housing partners to support re-housing applications in line with local housing policy.
Safeguarding, Risk and Professional PracticeAct as a trusted assessor, identifying when specialist assessment or intervention from another professional is required.Identify, report and progress adult and children safeguarding concerns, carrying out safeguarding enquiries in line with local procedures and the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal.Apply legal and professional judgement to balance protection and risk, promoting positive risk management.Maintain comprehensive, accurate and professionally defensible records in line with organisational and professional standards.Where required, write court reports and provide evidence in legal proceedings.
Additional ResponsibilitiesWork in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, including GDPR, data protection, confidentiality and information-sharing protocols.Take responsibility for delivering against individual and team performance targets.Be accountable for the commitment of financial resources within the agreed scheme of delegation.Apply principles of social justice, social inclusion and equality in all casework, actively challenging discrimination and oppression and demonstrating sound ethical reasoning.
What We're Looking ForQualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration.Experience working within Adult Social Care.Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and strengths-based practice.Ability to manage a varied caseload and work autonomously within a multidisciplinary setting.Excellent communication, assessment and recording skills.
