Join our dedicated team in Nottingham as a Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) and play a vital role in ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people in care. As an IRO, you will be responsible for chairing statutory reviews, ensuring that the voice of the child is heard and that their needs are prioritized in care planning. You will work collaboratively with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to monitor the progress of children and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Chairing and facilitating child protection conferences and looked after children reviews.
  • Assessing and reviewing care plans to ensure they meet the individual needs of the child.
  • Building strong relationships with children, families, and professionals to advocate effectively for the child’s best interests.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with local authority policies.
  • Providing expert advice and support to social workers and other stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you must possess a recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, CSS, or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. Experience in child protection and knowledge of relevant legislation is essential. Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills are crucial, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
