Children's IRO - Enfield

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in Enfield. This role is essential in ensuring that the welfare of children in care is prioritized and that their voices are heard. As an IRO, you will be responsible for chairing reviews for children and young people in care, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and advocating for their best interests.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Chairing statutory reviews for children and young people in care, ensuring that their views and wishes are central to the process.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of care plans and ensuring that they are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Engaging with children, families, and professionals to gather information and promote the best outcomes for children.
  • Providing advice and support to social workers and other professionals regarding the IRO role and statutory requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports, ensuring all documentation is completed in line with local policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

  • A recognized social work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in children’s social work, particularly within the context of children in care.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child welfare.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
