Join Nottinghamshire County Council as a Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) and make a significant impact in the lives of children and young people in care. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to ensure that the voices of children are heard and their rights are upheld throughout the care process. This role is pivotal in promoting the best outcomes for children and ensuring that their care plans are effective and meaningful.
As a Children’s IRO, your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people in care.
- Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to gather insights and feedback.
- Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Advocating for the rights and needs of children and young people, ensuring their voices are central to decision-making.
- Providing guidance and support to social work teams to enhance the quality of care provided.
The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
- A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Significant experience in children’s social work, particularly in child protection or looked-after children services.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
