We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join our Kinship Assessment Team in Gloucestershire. As a crucial member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough assessments to determine the suitability of kinship carers for children in need of care and protection.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Undertaking comprehensive assessments of potential kinship carers, considering their capacity to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children.
  • Working collaboratively with families, partner agencies, and other professionals to gather relevant information and make informed decisions.
  • Providing support and guidance to kinship carers throughout the assessment process, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Preparing detailed reports and recommendations for the court, contributing to the decision-making process regarding the placement of children.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess:

  • A recognized social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting assessments within a statutory social work setting, preferably in kinship care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection and kinship care.

In addition to the essential qualifications and skills, candidates should be able to work autonomously, manage a complex caseload, and prioritize tasks effectively. A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for work purposes may be required due to the nature of home visits and assessments.
