Caritas Recruitment is supporting Southend-on-Sea City Council with the recruitment of a permanent Team Manager - Leaving Care.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Children's Social Work professional to take a key leadership role, managing a multidisciplinary team that includes Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, Children & Families Workers and administrative staff.

The Role

As Team Manager, you will provide strong operational and professional leadership, ensuring services for children and young people are delivered consistently to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and managing the Social Work team, maintaining high standards across assessments, child protection enquiries and support services.Providing professional supervision, appraisals and identifying development and training needs.Monitoring team performance, standards and quality of practice, embedding a culture of continuous improvement.Supporting staff to develop and monitor pathway plans for young people.Building effective relationships with partner agencies and professionals.Representing the Council within legal proceedings.Managing team budgets and expenditure.Chairing meetings, conferences and reviews as required.Contributing to management decision-making and deputising for the Service Manager when required. About You

You'll need a recognised Social Work qualification, alongside extensive knowledge of child protection, looked-after children, social work interventions and relevant legislation.

The Council is looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Experience at Senior Social Worker level within Children's Social Work.Experience working with families with varying needs and complexities.Multi-disciplinary and integrated working experience.Experience contributing to the learning and supervision of other professionals.Previous staff management experience is desirable.Strong leadership, decision-making, analytical and organisational skills.

An Enhanced DBS is required for this position.

Caritas Recruitment is supporting Southend-on-Sea City Council with the recruitment of a Social Worker to join their newly named All About the Family Service, a specialist service focused on supporting children and young people where reunification with their family is being considered.

This is a specialist Social Work role within the Edge of Care service, with a strong focus on completing high-quality reunification assessments and preparing children and families for safe and sustainable reunification.

The Role

As a Social Worker within the All About the Family Service, you will:

Complete child-centred, evidence-informed reunification assessments using the NSPCC reunification guidance and framework.Work directly with children, young people, parents and carers to assess parenting capacity, family strengths, risks and the potential for sustainable change.Ensure the child's voice, wishes, feelings and lived experience remain central to assessment and planning.Support the delivery of the Parenting From a Distance programme, helping parents strengthen their parenting capacity and demonstrate meaningful change.Work closely with allocated Social Workers, Social Care colleagues and partner agencies to develop clear intervention and reunification plans.Prepare analytical, evidence-based reports that may be used within statutory decision-making and Family Court proceedings.Where required, attend Family Court and provide written and/or oral evidence relating to reunification assessments. About You

You will need:

A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.Statutory Social Work experience, including strong assessment skills.Knowledge of child protection, looked-after children and Child in Need practice.A good understanding of relevant children's legislation, statutory guidance and social work interventions.Experience of multidisciplinary working with children and families.Strong written, verbal, analytical and communication skills.A valid driving licence and access to a car for business use. Working Arrangements

The role combines office, community and home-based working. The service operates on a rota between 8am and 8pm, so some evening and weekend working will be required. The successful candidate must also be able to travel within and outside the city when required.

An Enhanced Children's Workforce DBS, including barred-list checking, is required.
