The Role

As a Team Manager within Fostering Services, you will lead the delivery of kinship and fostering recruitment activity, managing a team of Advanced Practitioners, Supervising Social Workers, and support staff.
You will drive service performance, ensure high-quality practice, and maintain compliance with all fostering regulations and statutory requirements, while improving outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day delivery of kinship and fostering recruitment services
  • Provide supervision, appraisals, and development support to staff
  • Ensure the recruitment, assessment, and support of foster carers and kinship carers meet regulatory standards
  • Monitor service performance, quality, and compliance with policies and procedures
  • Oversee complex cases and provide expert guidance on fostering and kinship care
  • Drive continuous improvement and embed best practice across the service
  • Manage budgets and authorise expenditure within agreed limits
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and partner agencies
  • Chair meetings, reviews, and multi-agency forums as required
  • Deputise for the Service Manager when required

About You

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Significant experience within fostering services, specifically kinship care (essential)
  • Experience at Advanced Practitioner or Team Manager level
  • Strong knowledge of fostering legislation, National Minimum Standards, and safeguarding
  • Proven experience managing staff performance and improving service delivery
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and multi-agency relationships
  • Confident leadership, decision-making, and communication skills
