Are you a passionate and dedicated social worker looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families? Darlington is seeking a Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that children in care receive the support they need and that their voices are heard in decision-making processes.
Your key responsibilities will include conducting regular reviews for children in care, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and providing expert advice to social workers and care teams. You will facilitate meetings, advocate for children's rights, and collaborate with various stakeholders to develop and implement care plans that promote the best interests of each child.
- Conduct independent reviews of care plans for children and young people.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care placements.
- Ensure the participation of children and families in the review process.
- Provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals.
The ideal candidate will possess a recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. You should have a strong understanding of child welfare legislation and experience working with children in care. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills are essential, as well as the ability to advocate effectively for children's needs.
