We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in Gateshead. As a Children's IRO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard and their rights are upheld throughout the care planning process. You will work closely with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to facilitate effective reviews and ensure that care plans are tailored to meet the individual needs of each child.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting regular reviews of children's care plans to monitor progress and ensure compliance with statutory requirements. Engaging with children, families, and professionals to gather and assess information relevant to the reviews. Providing clear and constructive feedback on care plans and making recommendations for improvements. Ensuring that children's voices are central to the review process and advocating for their best interests. Maintaining accurate records and documentation in accordance with local authority policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A relevant social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England or equivalent professional body. Significant experience in children's social work, with a strong understanding of the legal framework and child protection issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to promoting the best outcomes for children.
