We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in Manchester. As a Children's IRO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that children and young people in care receive the highest standards of support and advocacy. Your expertise will help facilitate reviews and ensure that the voices of children are heard and considered in all decision-making processes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular reviews of care plans for children and young people in care, ensuring that their needs are met and their rights are upheld.
  • Working collaboratively with social workers, families, and other professionals to develop and implement effective care plans.
  • Providing independent oversight and challenge to ensure that children's welfare is prioritized in all aspects of care.
  • Facilitating meetings and consultations with children and young people, ensuring their views and wishes are represented.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of reviews and contributing to quality assurance processes.

To be considered for this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience working with children and families, preferably in a statutory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
