Caritas Recruitment is supporting Tameside Council to recruit 3 Permanent Mental Health Social Workers to join their Adult Community Mental Health Teams.
Salary
£39,862 - £45,091 (SCP 29-34, Grade H+)
- Additional £82 per shift for AMHP rota (approx. 25-30 shifts per year)
- AMHP training available if not already qualified
Location
Tameside (Community Mental Health Teams - based at Wilshaw House)
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary Adult Mental Health team, supporting adults of working age experiencing moderate to severe mental health needs.
You will:
- Complete Care Act assessments and develop clear, outcome-focused support plans
- Undertake complex work including DoLS, COPDOL, Section 21A, and court reports
- Work collaboratively with health professionals and partner agencies
- Assess and manage risk while promoting independence and wellbeing
- Build effective relationships with individuals who may be harder to engage
- Support carers and contribute to safeguarding processes
- Work with young people transitioning into Adult Mental Health services
- Participate in the duty rota and respond to crisis situations when required
There is also the opportunity to participate in or train for the AMHP rota, supporting statutory mental health interventions.
Working Pattern
- Full-time permanent (36 hours per week)
- Monday-Friday core hours with occasional Saturdays
- 6-day service (9am-5pm)
- 1 day working from home per week (with manager agreement)
About You
- Social Work qualification and SWE registration
- Minimum 2 years' post-qualified experience in Mental Health
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act
- Experience completing assessments, support plans, and legal documentation
- Ability to manage complex caseloads and work in dynamic environments
- Full UK driving licence
- AMHP qualification desirable (or willingness to train)
