Caritas Recruitment is working with Trafford Council to recruit a permanent Families First Social Worker based within their Children's Services.

About the Role

This opportunity sits within Families First, a frontline service responsible for duty, assessment and Child in Need (CIN) work. The service plays a key role in ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time, preventing escalation wherever possible.
You will work across one of four locality teams (North, West, South or Central) and be responsible for:
  • Undertaking duty and assessment work
  • Supporting families through the Child in Need process
  • Completing high-quality, child-focused assessments and plans
  • Identifying risk and making informed threshold decisions
  • Working in partnership with multi-agency professionals
  • Applying strengths-based, relational practice to achieve sustainable outcomes
This is a fast-paced service with a strong focus on early intervention, effective decision-making, and improving outcomes for children and families.

About You

  • Social Work qualification and SWE registration
  • Minimum 3 years' permanent post-qualified experience
  • Experience in duty, assessment, and CIN work
  • Strong understanding of thresholds, risk, and statutory processes
  • Confident decision-maker with strong analytical skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS (Children's Barred List) required
