Senior Practitioner | Family Safeguarding | Hertfordshire County Council - Permanent

  • Salary package: £47,754 per annum
  • - Basic salary: £41,511
  • - Market enhancement: £6,243 (paid monthly on a pro rata basis)
  • - Welcome payment: £1,000 (one-off payment upon successful completion of 6-month probation)

About the Role:

Hertfordshire County Council is recruiting experienced Senior Practitioners to join its Family Safeguarding teams across the East and West of the county. This is a vital, high-performing service working directly with families in need of support, delivering effective, relationship-based interventions.

You'll be working in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment with opportunities for development and career progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Holding a complex and varied caseload
  • Undertaking assessments and carrying out Section 47 investigations
  • Leading and contributing to strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and planning processes
  • Developing robust care plans to ensure children are safeguarded and supported
  • Contributing to service development and mentoring junior team members

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 2 years post-ASYE experience in a children's safeguarding team
  • Proven ability to manage risk and deliver high-quality casework
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Confident using Mosaic (desirable but not essential)
  • Able to commute to base office (Stevenage or Hemel) with hybrid working available

To Be Considered:

  • You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification (Social Work degree / DipSW / CQSW)
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship
  • Enhanced DBS required
