Children's SSW - Single Point of Access Team - Reading

Join our dedicated Single Point of Access Team in Reading as a Children’s Social Worker (SSW). In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding children and supporting families in need. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct assessments, manage cases, and develop effective intervention strategies that promote the welfare and development of children. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including families, schools, and health services, to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough assessments of children and families to identify needs and risks.
  • Developing and implementing tailored care plans in collaboration with families and other professionals.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with local and national guidelines.
  • Providing support and guidance to families, ensuring their voices are heard in the decision-making process.
  • Participating in multi-agency meetings and contributing to safeguarding strategies.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

  • A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working in children's services, particularly in assessment and intervention.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks, including safeguarding policies.
