We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. In this pivotal role, you will advocate for the rights and needs of children in care, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in all decision-making processes. You will work closely with social workers, children, and families to facilitate reviews and monitor care plans, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting regular reviews of children’s care plans and making recommendations to improve their welfare and outcomes. Engaging with children and young people to gather their views and experiences, ensuring they are central to the reviewing process. Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to assess the effectiveness of care arrangements and identify any necessary changes. Providing expert advice and guidance to social workers and other professionals regarding the IRO role and statutory responsibilities. Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to reviews and outcomes, ensuring compliance with local authority policies.To be considered for this role, you must possess a relevant social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent) and hold current registration with a recognized regulatory body. Essential skills include strong communication abilities, a deep understanding of child welfare legislation, and a commitment to advocating for children’s rights. Experience in a similar role or within child protection services is highly desirable.
