Children's Social Worker - Dacorum/St Albans Assessment Team UK

Join a high‑impact Assessment Team within Safeguarding Services (Children's Services), covering Dacorum and St Albans (Hertfordshire). The Role - What you'll do

  • Hold a manageable caseload of 18 children, prioritising risk and outcomes.
  • Visit children and families at home and in school to build relationships and gather quality evidence.
  • Attend and chair meetings as appropriate, contributing to robust multi‑agency plans.
  • Complete Child & Family Assessments within timescales and progress S47 enquiries, Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) work to a high standard.
  • Maintain clear, analytical recording aligned to statutory guidance and local procedures.

Work Pattern & Location

  • Hybrid: mixture of WFH and office, with 3 days in the office.
  • Patch includes 1 day in St Albans and 1 day in Dacorum (as required by allocation).
  • Base: Apsley 1, Brindley Way, Apsley, Hemel Hempstead.

About You - What you'll bring

  • Qualified Social Worker with proven children's social work experience.
  • Confident undertaking assessments, CP, CIN, and S47 enquiries.
  • Driver with access to your own car (essential) to meet the needs of a mobile service.
  • Enhanced DBS required.
  • Values‑led practice, strong analysis, and effective partnership working.

Contract, Pay & Compliance

  • Contract type: Temporary (in scope of IR35; Standard Invoice).
  • Start date: 10 Nov 2025 | Likely end date: 30 Nov 2025 (with service need‑led potential beyond).
  • Hours: 37 per week, Mon-Fri, 09:00-17:00.
  • Rate: £39.00 per hour.
