As a Children's IRO, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people in care, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to gather feedback and promote collaborative decision-making.
  • Monitoring the progress of care plans and ensuring timely interventions when necessary.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to social workers and other professionals involved in the care of children.
  • Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports for management and regulatory bodies.

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in children’s social work, particularly in the context of child protection and looked-after children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
  • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
