Liverpool City Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. In this vital role, you will ensure that the welfare of children and young people in care is prioritized and that their voices are heard in decision-making processes.

As a Children's IRO, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular reviews for children and young people in care, ensuring their care plans are effective and in their best interests.
  • Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to gather insights and feedback.
  • Monitoring the quality of care provided to children and young people, identifying any issues and advocating for necessary changes.
  • Providing guidance and support to social workers and other professionals involved in the care and safeguarding of children.
  • Preparing detailed reports and documentation for review meetings and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Social Work Degree, DipSW, CQSW).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in children's social work, particularly in a reviewing or oversight capacity.
  • Strong understanding of child protection legislation and statutory frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
