We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Team in Shropshire. As a Senior Practitioner in the UASC Team, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting assessments and developing care plans tailored to the individual needs of unaccompanied minors.
  • Providing supervision and support to junior staff and social work students, fostering their professional development.
  • Collaborating with external agencies, including health, education, and legal services, to ensure holistic support for the young people.
  • Managing a caseload effectively, ensuring timely interventions and adherence to safeguarding policies.
  • Participating in multi-agency meetings and contributing to strategy development for the UASC service.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children or within similar settings.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds.
