An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Children's Senior Practitioner to join Birmingham's Family Help Service. Working within an innovative, multidisciplinary model, you will support children and families through targeted early help, Child in Need planning, statutory assessments and safeguarding interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of Child in Need, safeguarding and step-up cases.
  • Complete high-quality Children & Families Assessments, risk assessments and safety plans.
  • Undertake direct work with children and families, ensuring the child's voice is central to practice.
  • Develop and review Child in Need plans alongside families and partner agencies.
  • Assess and manage risk relating to neglect, domestic abuse, parental mental health, substance misuse and exploitation.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, health services, police and community partners.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports in line with statutory requirements and timescales.

About You

  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent).
  • Social Work England registered.
  • Strong experience in Child in Need, safeguarding and statutory children's social work.
  • Confident undertaking assessments, managing risk and making sound decisions.
  • Skilled at building relationships and engaging families to achieve lasting change.
  • Experience within Local Authority Children's Services.
