As a Senior Practitioner, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a caseload of children looked after, ensuring their welfare and best interests are prioritized.
  • Conducting assessments and developing care plans in collaboration with children, families, and multi-agency partners.
  • Providing supervision and support to junior staff and social work students, fostering their professional development.
  • Attending court hearings and representing the local authority's position effectively.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Current Social Work England registration.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in children’s services, particularly in a looked-after children setting.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with children, families, and professionals.
