As a Children's Social Worker within the LAC Team, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and their families to identify needs and develop appropriate care plans.
  • Building trusting relationships with children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes.
  • Working closely with foster carers, residential staff, and other professionals to monitor and review the progress of children in care.
  • Providing expert advice and support to families, facilitating family reunification where possible and appropriate.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with local authority policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized Social Work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and families, particularly in a looked-after or child protection context.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to working with children and families.
