Children's SP - UASC & 16+ Pathways Team - Shropshire
Shropshire Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Qualified Social Worker to join our Children’s SP - UASC & 16+ Pathways Team. In this pivotal role, you will work with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people, ensuring they receive the support and guidance necessary for their development and integration. You will be responsible for assessing needs, developing care plans, and providing a safe, supportive environment for our young people as they transition to independence.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of the needs of unaccompanied minors and young adults.
- Developing and implementing individual care plans in collaboration with young people and other professionals.
- Providing direct support and advocacy to ensure the welfare and best interests of children and young adults are prioritized.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation.
- Collaborating with external agencies, including health services, education providers, and legal representatives.
The ideal candidate will possess a recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. You should have a solid understanding of child protection legislation and experience working with children and young people, particularly in the context of asylum-seeking and transitioning to independent living. Essential skills include strong communication, empathy, problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
In addition to a competitive salary, Shropshire Council offers a range of benefits, including flexible working arrangements, continuous professional development opportunities, and a supportive work environment. You will also have access to an employee assistance program and a comprehensive benefits package designed to promote your well-being and work-life balance.
If you are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable young people and meet the qualifications outlined above, we encourage you to apply and join our dedicated team in Shropshire.
