We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Qualified Social Worker to join our Families First Team in Durham, specializing in Children’s Social Work. This role is pivotal in providing support and intervention for families in need, ensuring the safety and well-being of children within our community. You will work collaboratively with families, professionals, and local agencies to deliver high-quality services that promote positive outcomes for children and their families.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify needs and risks.
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing care plans in partnership with families and relevant stakeholders.
  • Providing direct support and guidance to families, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records in compliance with local authority policies and procedures.
  • Participating in multi-agency meetings and contributing to the development of safeguarding strategies.
  • Supporting and mentoring less experienced staff and students within the team.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England (or equivalent regulatory body).
  • Proven experience in children's social work, particularly within a family support context.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in children's services.
