As a Children's IRO, you will be responsible for a range of key duties, including:

  • Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people in care.
  • Ensuring that the views and wishes of children are central to the review process.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of care plans and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborating with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to promote the best outcomes for children.
  • Providing support and guidance to children and families throughout the review process.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience working with children and families in a social work setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices related to child welfare and safeguarding.
