As a Children's IRO, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people, ensuring their needs and wishes are central to the process.
  • Facilitating and chairing review meetings, promoting positive engagement with children, families, and professionals.
  • Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring timely actions are taken to address any identified issues.
  • Providing expert advice and support to social workers and other professionals involved in the care of children.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with statutory requirements and best practices.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in children's social work, particularly in a reviewing or quality assurance capacity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills, with a keen attention to detail.
