This pivotal role will focus on supporting children and families by assessing the suitability of kinship placements, ensuring the best outcomes for children in need of care. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough assessments of kinship care applicants, including home visits and interviews.
  • Preparing detailed reports that inform decision-making processes regarding children's placements.
  • Providing ongoing support and guidance to kinship carers and their families.
  • Collaborating with multi-agency teams to ensure comprehensive care plans are in place.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in accordance with statutory requirements.

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience in child protection, family support, or kinship care assessments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
  • Excellent report writing and analytical skills.
