We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children’s Social Worker (SSW) to join our Children’s Services and Social Work (CSW) Team in Gateshead. This role is essential in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and development of children and young people in our care. You will work collaboratively with families, schools, and other stakeholders to provide support and intervention, promoting positive outcomes for children and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments of children and families to identify needs and risks.
  • Developing and implementing care plans in partnership with families and relevant agencies.
  • Providing direct support and intervention to children and families, ensuring their voices are heard.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Participating in multi-agency meetings and contributing to safeguarding initiatives.

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England (or equivalent regulatory body).
  • Experience working with children and families, particularly in a statutory setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build rapport with children and families.
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding practices.
