About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and dynamic Social Worker to join the Integrated Front Door (IFD) - Referral and Assessment Service in Bolton.

Based at Castle Hill, this role provides a purposeful, professional duty service to children, families, and partner agencies. You'll play a key role in screening and assessing referrals, ensuring that children receive the right support at the right time - whether that's early help, a child in need plan, or statutory intervention under Section 47.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a professional duty service in line with statutory requirements and departmental policies.
  • Screen and assess referrals to determine whether a Section 47 (Child Protection) enquiry or Children and Family Needs Assessment is required.
  • Contribute to front door duty provision, offering accurate information, advice, and guidance to families and professionals.
  • Arrange services and coordinate support for families requiring further intervention.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard and promote children's welfare.
  • Maintain clear, timely, and accurate case records.
  • Demonstrate professional curiosity, resilience, and a strong commitment to safeguarding.
  • About You
  • We're seeking an enthusiastic and skilled practitioner who can work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (CQSW, DipSW, CSS, or Social Work Degree).
  • Registered (or pending registration) with Social Work England.
  • Strong understanding of Children's Social Care legislation and guidance, particularly in referral, assessment, and child protection.
  • Proven ability to assess risk and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Must be able to work office-based in Bolton.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential car user post).

Desirable:

  • Experience as a Front Door / Duty Social Worker in a local authority children's service.
  • Familiarity with LiquidLogic or similar case management systems.
