Rate: Up to £39 per hour (Umbrella) - depending on experience

Overview
Caritas Recruitment is urgently seeking an experienced Social Worker to join Tameside Council's Duty & Assessment Team.
This is a front-line role responsible for managing referrals, conducting assessments, and carrying out statutory duties to safeguard children and families. You'll work in a fast-paced, high-performing team dealing with new referrals, strategy discussions, and Section 47 enquiries.
Please note: Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in a Duty & Assessment or Front Door team. Applications not meeting this requirement will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a Duty & Assessment caseload, responding to new referrals and undertaking assessments in line with statutory requirements.
- Conduct Section 47 Child Protection enquiries where appropriate.
- Liaise effectively with multi-agency partners including health, police, and education.
- Produce clear, evidence-based assessments and care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records.
- Participate in team meetings, strategy discussions, and case reviews.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker (CQSW, DipSW, CSS, or Social Work Degree).
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a Duty & Assessment team (essential).
- Strong working knowledge of child protection procedures, thresholds, and statutory guidance.
- Excellent written, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Must be able to work office-based in Bury when required.
