Are you an experienced and passionate Social Worker looking for your next locum opportunity? We are seeking a dedicated Duty & Assessment Social Worker to join a busy and supportive Children's Services team in Lancaster.

The Role
As a Duty & Assessment Social Worker, you will be responsible for undertaking high-quality assessments and interventions, ensuring children are safeguarded and receive the right support at the right time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completing timely, structured and analytical assessments.
- Carrying out purposeful home visits and ensuring families remain informed throughout the assessment process.
- Identifying, analysing and responding to safeguarding concerns and risks.
- Contributing to strategy discussions, child protection enquiries and planning processes.
- Building effective, trusting relationships with children and families using a trauma-informed, child-centred and strengths-based approach.
- Working collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure coordinated planning and effective information sharing.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring all documentation meets statutory and local authority standards.
- Managing a varied caseload effectively and working within statutory timescales.
- Participating in reflective supervision, continuous professional development and contributing positively to a supportive team culture.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must:
- Hold a recognised Social Work qualification.
- Be registered with Social Work England.
- Have a minimum of three years' experience in a permanent post within a Local Authority Children's Services team.
- Demonstrate strong assessment, safeguarding and child protection experience.
- Possess excellent communication, analytical and report-writing skills.
- Be committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
