Durham County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Connected Carers team. This role is pivotal in providing high-quality support and guidance to connected carers, ensuring that children and young people in care receive the best possible outcomes. As a Senior Social Worker, you will lead on complex cases, manage a diverse caseload, and collaborate with various stakeholders to promote the welfare of children and families.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough assessments of connected carers and children’s needs.
  • Developing and implementing care plans in partnership with families and other professionals.
  • Providing expert advice and support to connected carers, ensuring they have the resources and training required.
  • Monitoring and reviewing cases to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practices.
  • Leading and mentoring junior staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in child protection and working with connected families.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
