Durham County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Connected Carers team. This role is pivotal in providing high-quality support and guidance to connected carers, ensuring that children and young people in care receive the best possible outcomes. As a Senior Social Worker, you will lead on complex cases, manage a diverse caseload, and collaborate with various stakeholders to promote the welfare of children and families.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting thorough assessments of connected carers and children’s needs. Developing and implementing care plans in partnership with families and other professionals. Providing expert advice and support to connected carers, ensuring they have the resources and training required. Monitoring and reviewing cases to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practices. Leading and mentoring junior staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Registered with Social Work England. Significant experience in child protection and working with connected families. Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
