An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified Adult Social Worker to join a Learning Disabilities team in Manchester. You will support adults with learning disabilities to live fulfilling, safe and independent lives, promoting choice, control, rights and wellbeing. The role involves completing strengths-based assessments, care and support planning, reviews and reassessments in line with relevant legislation, policy and professional standards.

You will manage a varied caseload and work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, advocates and partner agencies to identify needs and achieve positive outcomes. Responsibilities will include assessing eligibility, arranging and reviewing appropriate support, coordinating transitions and responding effectively to safeguarding concerns. You will also contribute to crisis intervention, risk management, mental capacity assessments and best-interest decision-making where required. Accurate, timely recording and clear professional communication will be essential, alongside effective management of competing priorities.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England, with relevant post-qualification experience in adult social care, ideally within learning disabilities services. You should have a sound understanding of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding procedures, person-centred planning and self-directed support. The successful candidate will be confident working autonomously while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary environment, demonstrating sound professional judgement, resilience and a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice. Strong assessment, report-writing and partnership-working skills are essential. A full driving licence and the ability to travel across the local area may be required. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping people achieve greater independence, choice and quality of life.
