We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Adult Occupational Therapist to join a community-based service supporting adults across Walsall. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping people maintain independence, improve their quality of life and remain safely in their own homes. You will manage a varied caseload, completing holistic assessments and developing person-centred intervention plans in partnership with individuals, families, carers and other professionals.
Your responsibilities will include assessing functional abilities, identifying risks and recommending appropriate equipment, adaptations and rehabilitation strategies. You will provide clear clinical advice, monitor outcomes and review interventions to ensure they remain effective and responsive to changing needs. You will also contribute to moving and handling assessments, discharge planning, safeguarding processes and the prevention of hospital admission where appropriate. Accurate record keeping, timely report writing and effective communication with health, social care and voluntary-sector colleagues will be essential. You may also support service development, clinical supervision and the mentoring of students or less experienced staff.
Applicants should hold a recognised degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the relevant professional regulator. You will need sound knowledge of occupational therapy assessment and intervention for adults, along with an understanding of relevant legislation, risk management and professional standards. Experience in community, rehabilitation, social care or hospital settings is desirable. We are looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and confident working independently while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team. A valid driving licence and access to transport may be required, depending on service needs. In return, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment while delivering practical, outcome-focused care to people in the local community.
