We are seeking a committed and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Children in Care (CIC) team supporting children and young people who are looked after. You will manage a varied caseload, promoting safety, stability, and positive outcomes for each child. Working in partnership with children, young people, foster carers, residential providers, families, schools, health professionals, and other agencies, you will ensure that care plans are purposeful, child-centred, and regularly reviewed.
Your responsibilities will include completing high-quality assessments, care planning, statutory visits, reviews, and permanency work; responding to safeguarding concerns; preparing reports for meetings and court proceedings; and maintaining accurate, timely case records. You will advocate for children’s wishes and feelings, support meaningful relationships with birth families where appropriate, and help young people prepare for independence and transition into adulthood. The role requires confident decision-making, effective risk management, and the ability to balance the needs of children, families, and carers in complex circumstances.
You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current professional registration, with relevant post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, ideally within a Children in Care or safeguarding setting. A sound understanding of legislation, statutory guidance, permanence planning, and corporate parenting responsibilities is essential. You should be an excellent communicator, highly organised, and able to work collaboratively while managing competing priorities. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, participation, and improving outcomes for children is vital. A valid driving licence and access to suitable transport may be required for this role. In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work, receive professional support, and develop your practice within a dedicated children’s services team.
