We are seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join a busy Children and Families team. You will work with children, young people and their families to assess needs, promote welfare and achieve positive, lasting outcomes. The role involves managing a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments, developing and reviewing care plans, and ensuring that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all decisions.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking statutory visits, responding to safeguarding concerns, contributing to strategy discussions and child protection processes, and working alongside schools, health professionals, police, carers and other partner agencies. You will support children subject to child in need, child protection and care proceedings, prepare clear and accurate reports, and provide evidence for meetings and court hearings where required. You will also identify risks, respond appropriately to changing circumstances and promote permanence, stability and improved outcomes for every child.
You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Experience of working with children and families in a statutory setting, together with a sound understanding of safeguarding legislation, assessment frameworks and care planning, is essential. You will need strong communication, analytical and report-writing skills, along with the ability to build effective relationships with children, parents and professionals. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, professional development and reflective supervision is expected. You should be organised, resilient and able to prioritise competing demands while maintaining high professional standards. A full driving licence and access to suitable transport may be required for undertaking visits. In return, you will receive professional support, regular supervision and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and families.
