Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team. As an IRO, you will be responsible for chairing reviews of care plans, advocating for the rights and needs of children, and ensuring that their voices are heard and respected.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Chairing statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring that all reviews are conducted in a timely and child-centered manner.
  • Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring that children’s needs are met effectively.
  • Building strong relationships with children, families, and professionals to facilitate open communication and collaboration.
  • Providing guidance and support to social workers and other professionals involved in the child’s care.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and local policies related to children in care.

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant social work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. You should have substantial experience working within children’s services and a thorough understanding of the statutory framework surrounding children in care. Strong communication, advocacy, and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-agency environment.
