Children's IRO - Worcestershire

Worcestershire County Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. This pivotal role involves ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard and that their needs are met within the care system. As an IRO, you will be responsible for overseeing the quality of care plans and ensuring that they are implemented effectively, while also advocating for the rights and well-being of children in care.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular reviews of care plans for children and young people in care.
  • Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to ensure collaborative decision-making.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of care services provided to children.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of reviews and decisions made.
  • Identifying and addressing any concerns regarding the welfare of children in care.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

  • A recognized social work qualification (degree or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in children's social work, particularly in a reviewing or quality assurance capacity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with children and families.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in child welfare and safeguarding.
