We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. As a Children’s IRO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard and prioritized in their care planning. Your expertise will contribute to the safeguarding and well-being of vulnerable children, ensuring that their needs are met through effective reviews and comprehensive assessments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people in care.
  • Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to ensure meaningful participation.
  • Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Providing feedback and reports to local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Advocating for children's rights and best interests in all aspects of their care.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A relevant social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience working with children and families in a social work or related capacity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and young people.
  • Sound knowledge of child protection legislation and frameworks.
