As a Children's IRO, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Providing independent oversight and challenge to local authority decisions affecting children.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience working with children and families, particularly in a child protection or looked-after children setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with a commitment to safeguarding children’s welfare.
