Children's IRO - Sefton

Sefton Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. As an IRO, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard and that their needs are met within the care system. Your expertise will contribute to the development of effective care plans and the overall well-being of the children we serve.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children in care, ensuring they are child-centered and promote positive outcomes.
  • Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to gather insights and feedback.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of care plans and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and local policies.
  • Building strong relationships with children, families, and stakeholders to advocate for the best interests of children.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in children's social work, particularly within the IRO role or related fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in children's social care.
