Children's Support Worker - Domestic Abuse Sector (Derbyshire)

Role Overview

  • Support children and young people affected by domestic abuse
  • Provide emotional and practical support in safe, structured environments
  • Help children recover from trauma and build resilience
  • Deliver one-to-one and group-based interventions
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, stability, and confidence
  • Work with families to support recovery and safeguarding

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk and needs assessments for children and young people
  • Develop and implement individual support plans
  • Deliver age-appropriate emotional support sessions and activities
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes and records
  • Liaise with social workers, schools, health services, and other agencies
  • Support families in accessing housing, benefits, and community services
  • Advocate for children to ensure their voice is heard

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children/young people in a support, safeguarding, youth work, or domestic abuse setting
  • Strong understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on children
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Ability to manage caseloads and maintain accurate documentation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential due to travel requirements)
  • Ability to work full-time hours across Derbyshire
