We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our team in Gateshead. As an IRO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the voice of the child is heard in the decision-making processes affecting their lives. You will work closely with children, families, and professionals to promote the best outcomes for vulnerable children and young people in our care.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent reviews of children’s care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Facilitating meetings and consultations with children, families, and care providers to gather feedback and assess needs.
  • Monitoring the progress and effectiveness of care plans while advocating for the rights and wishes of children.
  • Providing support and guidance to social workers, ensuring that children’s views are represented in all discussions.
  • Preparing detailed reports and recommendations based on findings from reviews and consultations.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A relevant social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience in children’s social care, particularly in roles involving advocacy or independent oversight.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to write clear, concise reports.
