Adult's SW - LD Team - Walsall
We are seeking a qualified Adult Social Worker to join a dedicated Learning Disabilities team in Walsall. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to support adults to live as independently as possible, promote their wellbeing and achieve positive outcomes in line with their personal goals.
You will manage a varied caseload involving assessment, care planning, review and safeguarding. Working collaboratively with individuals, families, carers and partner agencies, you will identify strengths, assess eligible needs and arrange appropriate support. Your responsibilities will include completing person-centred assessments, developing and reviewing support plans, coordinating multi-agency interventions and ensuring that individuals’ rights, wishes and preferences remain central to decision-making.
The role will involve working within relevant legislation, statutory guidance and professional standards, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding procedures. You will contribute to best-interest decisions, risk management and appropriate use of resources, while maintaining accurate, timely case records. You will also be expected to advocate for people who may have difficulty expressing their views and promote inclusion, choice and control.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You should have recent experience within adult social care, ideally supporting people with learning disabilities, and possess a sound understanding of strengths-based and person-centred practice. Experience of safeguarding, mental capacity assessments, care and support planning, and multi-disciplinary working is highly desirable.
You will need excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills, together with the confidence to work autonomously and make sound professional judgements. A commitment to equality, diversity and continued professional development is essential. The ability to manage competing priorities, build effective relationships and respond sensitively to complex situations will be key to success in this role.
