An experienced and committed Adult Social Worker is required to join a busy Mental Health Team supporting adults with a range of complex mental health needs. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by promoting independence, wellbeing, recovery and choice while ensuring that people receive safe, proportionate and person-centred support.
You will undertake comprehensive Care Act assessments, reviews and safeguarding enquiries, working collaboratively with individuals, their families, carers and a range of partner agencies. You will develop, implement and review outcome-focused support plans, arrange appropriate services and ensure that care and support remains responsive to changing needs. The role will involve managing a varied caseload, contributing to risk assessments and supporting people through periods of crisis and transition.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will build effective professional relationships with health colleagues, providers, advocacy services and other community partners. You will promote least restrictive practice, positive risk-taking and strengths-based approaches, while maintaining a clear focus on legal duties, professional standards and the rights of the people you support. Accurate, timely recording and confident communication will be essential, alongside the ability to prioritise work in a demanding environment.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. You should have recent experience of adult social care, ideally within a mental health setting, and a sound understanding of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding procedures and relevant mental health legislation. Experience of working with complex needs, multi-agency teams and statutory assessments is highly desirable. An AMHP qualification, or a willingness to work towards this where appropriate, would be advantageous.
You will be organised, resilient and committed to continuous professional development, with the professional judgement to work autonomously while contributing positively to a supportive team. A full driving licence and access to transport may be required, depending on service needs.
